Dan Svizeny - It’s Beautiful
To say that I’ve become friends with a lot of artists that I post about here is the nice way of saying we’re casual pals who I’ve hung out once at a show, or chatted online in some fashion. When I met Dan, we then became IRL neighbors, then co-workers, then budz. It’s beautiful, man.
Look for his new self titled cassette release out on Mirror Universe Tapes this fall.
Anonymous asked: where do you get your drums from?
i sample them from songs i like most of the time.
We’ve been fans of Brendan Codey and Dan Svizney’s respective bedroom projects for the past few years: Codey’s "Casco", which came out last year on TTS, is one of our favorite releases, while Svizney’s Cough Cool albums have consistently supplied blissful, fuzzed-out jams. Codey moved from Philly to Berlin this summer, but before leaving he and Dan recorded a few songs on a lark, dubbing themselves Alpine Roses. The songs on this three-song cassingle (the second release in Volume One of our Cassingles Series) exist somewhere outside of either of their main, mostly insular, projects. Instead, this tape sounds like the product of a few afternoons of bouncing ideas off of one another, opting for creating rather than editing. At its simplest, it sounds like two friends creating something until the next time they see each other.
